Using biometric authentication

Set up Face ID, Touch ID, or fingerprint for faster approvals.

Biometric Authentication

Use your face or fingerprint to quickly approve authentication requests and access the AffirmID app.

Supported Biometrics

iOS:

  • Face ID (iPhone X and later)
  • Touch ID (iPhone 5s through iPhone 8)

Android:

  • Fingerprint sensors
  • Face recognition (device-dependent)

Enable Biometrics

  1. Open AffirmID
  2. Go to SettingsSecurity
  3. Toggle on Biometric Authentication
  4. Verify with your current biometric

Use Cases

Biometrics can be used for:

  • Opening the app - Protect access to your codes
  • Approving push requests - Quick one-gesture approvals
  • Viewing sensitive info - Access backup codes or secrets

Biometric vs PIN

You can use biometrics alongside a PIN:

Troubleshooting

Biometric not recognized:

  1. Clean your device's sensor
  2. Re-register your fingerprint/face in device settings
  3. Try a different finger

Biometric disabled:

  1. Check that biometrics are enabled in iOS/Android settings
  2. Ensure AffirmID has permission to use biometrics
  3. Restart the app and try again

Security Considerations

  • Biometrics are processed locally on your device
  • Biometric data never leaves your device
  • Failed attempts fall back to PIN
  • After 5 failed attempts, PIN is required
