Use Cases
Biometrics can be used for:
- Opening the app - Protect access to your codes
- Approving push requests - Quick one-gesture approvals
- Viewing sensitive info - Access backup codes or secrets
Biometric vs PIN
You can use biometrics alongside a PIN:
| Scenario | Biometric | PIN |
|---|---|---|
| Quick access | ✓ | |
| Biometric fails | ✓ | |
| Wet fingers | ✓ | |
| Shared device | ✓ |
Troubleshooting
Biometric not recognized:
- Clean your device's sensor
- Re-register your fingerprint/face in device settings
- Try a different finger
Biometric disabled:
- Check that biometrics are enabled in iOS/Android settings
- Ensure AffirmID has permission to use biometrics
- Restart the app and try again
Security Considerations
- Biometrics are processed locally on your device
- Biometric data never leaves your device
- Failed attempts fall back to PIN
- After 5 failed attempts, PIN is required
