Lost access to your device

Recover your AffirmID access if your phone is lost or stolen.

Lost or Stolen Device

Act quickly if your phone is lost, stolen, or broken.

Immediate Steps

  1. If stolen, report to police
  2. Remote wipe the device (if possible)
  3. Revoke AffirmID access (see below)

Revoke Device Access

If you have another linked device:

  1. Open AffirmID on your other device
  2. Go to Settings → Devices
  3. Find the lost device
  4. Tap "Remove Device"

If you don't have another device:

  1. Go to affirmid.com/account on a computer
  2. Sign in with your email and password
  3. Go to Security → Devices
  4. Remove the lost device

Recovering Your Accounts

With backup codes:

  1. Use a backup code to log in to services
  2. Set up AffirmID on your new device
  3. Re-enroll your accounts

With another linked device:

  1. Use your other device normally
  2. Set up AffirmID on your new device
  3. Transfer accounts

Without backup options:

  1. Contact each service's support
  2. Prove your identity
  3. They'll help you reset 2FA

Set Up New Device

Once you have a new phone:

  1. Install AffirmID
  2. Sign in to your account
  3. Your TOTP accounts should sync
  4. Verify push notifications work
  5. Remove the old device if you haven't already

Prevent Future Issues

After recovering:

  1. Generate new backup codes
  2. Link multiple devices if possible
  3. Store backup codes securely
  4. Consider a password manager for backups

Device Recovery Tips

iPhone:

  • Use Find My iPhone
  • Remote wipe if needed
  • Contact Apple Support

Android:

  • Use Find My Device
  • Remote lock and wipe
  • Contact your carrier
