Understanding push notifications

How AffirmID push notifications work to secure your logins.

How Push Notifications Work

AffirmID push notifications provide a seamless and secure way to verify your identity without typing codes.

The Push Flow

  1. You initiate a login - Enter your username and password on a protected service
  2. Request sent - The service sends an authentication request to AffirmID servers
  3. You receive a push - Your phone displays a notification with login details
  4. You respond - Tap Approve to allow or Deny to block the login
  5. Login completes - If approved, you're logged in automatically

What You'll See

When a push notification arrives, it includes:

  • Service name - Which application is requesting access
  • Location - Approximate location of the login attempt
  • Device info - Browser or device making the request
  • Time - When the request was initiated

Security Features

Push notifications include several security measures:

  • Time limit - Requests expire after 60 seconds
  • Number matching - Some services show a number you must match
  • Fraud alerts - Suspicious requests are flagged
  • Geolocation - See where the login is coming from

  1. Open your device's Settings
  2. Find AffirmID in the app list
  3. Tap Notifications
